Rebuilding Families’ Enterprises
On December 16, 2021, super typhoon Odette (Rai) wreaked havoc on the homes and businesses of over 7.7 million individuals in 11 regions across the Philippines: MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon & Palawan), Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 8, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA (Agusan del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao Del Norte & Surigao Del Sur), and BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). Among the affected, more than 50,000 belong to our community of impoverished members. Additionally, on April 12, 2022, Typhoon Agaton struck Northern Iloilo and Leyte, resulting in over 175 fatalities due to landslides and flooding.
The primary objective of the Rebuild Family Enterprises project is to establish a reconstruction fund aimed at fortifying and transforming our entrepreneurial families into climate-resilient communities. This initiative directly responds to the expressed needs of our long-supported client-members, echoing stories like Vilma's, whom we aim to assist through various support and capacity-building endeavors.
Key Actions:
- Rebuilding micro-enterprises for more than 51,811 members through capital infusion, insurance, savings opportunities, and skills training.
- Empowering women micro-entrepreneurs by enhancing digitization efforts, offering a digital finance ecosystem, and facilitating e-commerce platforms.
- Fostering the evolution of entrepreneurial families into adaptive and resilient communities through nature-based solutions and comprehensive training in community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM).
