August 16, 2016, the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 10693 -An Act Strengthening Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) with micro finance operations for the poor was signed. Congressman Pablo R. Nava. APPEND Partylist representative with Sen Bam Aquino principally authored the Microfinance NGOs Act. Present in the signing are Mr. Angel L. De Leon Jr and Mr. Rolly B. RA 10693 promises a vibrant local economic development by giving the Microfinance non-government organizations preferential tax treatment as they continue to do social welfare improvement through micro enterprise and Microfinance programs for the poor. The Microfinance NGOs in the Philippines have been helping more than 2 million poor micro entrepreneurial families in the country.
